Information Regarding the November 7, 2023 Election

An election will be held at the Newfield Township Hall on millage issues for the Hesperia Community School District as well as the Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency (NC-RESA). The Election will be held on November 7, 2023, from 7:00am to 8:00pm at the Newfield Township Hall located at 3890 S 198th Ave, Hesperia, MI 49421

The Newfield Township Planning Commission rescheduled its September 14 meeting for October 12, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Newfield Township Hall.

Treasurer Office Hours

Summer Taxes are due Thursday, September 14, 2023 by 5:00pm. Please note that postmarks of 9/14 will not be accepted. They must be received by the Treasurer on September 14, 2023 to be considered on time.

The treasurer will be in the office from 9:00am to 5:00pm on that day.

Taxes can be placed in the drop box any time before then and will be processed timely. Please do not put cash in the drop box.

 

The Treasurer will NOT be in the office on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The Master Plan Survey is LIVE!!

The Newfield Township Planning Commission is in the process of rewriting the Township’s Master Plan and needs your input!

Please click the link below to be redirected to our survey. The more input we receive, the better we can plan and strategize the Township’s growth and modernization for the next five years.

The survey was published by McKenna Associates at the direction and with the input of the Newfield Township Planning Commission and the Newfield Township Board.

PLEASE mark your calendars for the two public open houses we have scheduled for Thursday September 21, 2023 from 6:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday September 30, 2023 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. We hope to see you there!! The open houses are open to all Newfield Township Residents, and there will be refreshments served at each open house.

Newfield Township’s Fall Clean-Up Day

The Fall Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday 9/9/2023.

Drop-off begins at 8:00am and will end at 1:00pm, or when the dumpsters are full.

Please be advised that we will not be accepting household hazardous waste, batteries, tires, or yard waste.

Traffic will enter, pull in front of the dumpster, and exit via the grassy driveway. Volunteers will be on hand to direct traffic and assist with unloading.

 

This event is open to Newfield Township residents only, and proof of residency may be required.

Planning Commission Meeting Schedule Changes and Notice of Public Hearing

The Newfield Township Planning Commission will be holding a Public Hearing Thursday, September 7, 2023 beginning at 6:30 PM at the Newfield Township Hall, 3890 S. 198th Ave Hesperia, Mi.  to take public comments on a Special Use Permit Application requested by HiCloud LLC for property at 7655 E M-20 Hesperia, Mi.

The Special Use Permit is to allow commercial activity in a R-1 Zoning District. This property was previously under a Special Use Permit held by JRB CUZ Enterprises LLC.

This will be the only opportunity for public input on this application. Written responses will be read, however they must be received at the Newfield Township Hall, 3890 S 198th Ave Hesperia, Mi. (mailing address PO Box 564 Hesperia, Mi. 49421) by Tuesday September 5, 2023 at 5PM to be considered.

In addition, the regular meeting scheduled for September 14 will be CANCELLED. That meeting will be rescheduled for October 12, 2023 at 7:00pm to receive and review survey data and other metrics obtained by McKenna for the Master Plan. The Website has been updated to reflect this. Proper notice has also been posted at the Hall.

Public Open Houses for the Master Plan will be held on the following dates and times:

Thursday September 21, 2023 from 6:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday September 30, 2023 from 1:00pm-4:00pm

Please note that the Open Houses are NOT public meetings for the purposes of the Open Meetings Act. No minutes will be taken.
