The Newfield Township Offices and Recycle Center will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024 in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. Tax payments may be dropped in the BLACK mail slot on the building as usual. Those wishing to receive a receipt should indicate such on their envelope. PLEASE DO NOT DROP CASH IN THE DROP BOX!! Anyone needing to speak with a Township Official are encouraged to call or email the Official they need to speak with and not call the hall. The office telephone is not regularly attended.

The Newfield Township Planning Commission invites all Newfield Township Residents to come and utilize the dumpsters that the Township will be hosting on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 8:00am-1:00pm (or until full).

The following items will not be accepted: Tires, Batteries, Yard Waste, Hazardous Materials, Televisions.

Residents are encouraged to bring scrap metal and other waste items and FILL THESE DUMPSTERS!!

As always, volunteers are needed and appreciated! Come early, come often!!!

 

Please, no early or late dumping! It may be dangerous to do so, and we may end up with excess weight charges if the dumpsters are overfilled when they come to pick them up. Reminder that the township hall and grounds are under 24/7 video surveillance. Theft of scrap metal will be prosecuted.

Early voting for the August 6, 2024 election begins on Saturday July 27, 2024 and ends on Sunday August 4, 2024. Newfield Township’s Early Voting Site is the Oceana County Courthouse, located at 100 S State Street, Hart, MI 49421. Early Voting precincts are open for voters from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

The August 6, 2024 Primary Election will be held at the Newfield Township Hall starting at 7:00am. Polls close at 8:00pm. If you are in line to vote at 8:00pm you will still be able to cast your ballot. Voters are reminded to have a valid form of photo ID with them to come to vote. Any questions about absentee ballots, early voting, or voting on Election Day should be referred to Nancy Conley, Newfield Township Clerk at clerk@newfieldtownship.org or by calling the hall at (231) 854-4702 during regular office hours.

The Newfield Township Board of Review will meet on Tuesday July 16th at 5:00pm.

Taxpayers with business for the Board of Review are encouraged to attend.

Attention Absent Voters!

There is a new dropbox installed at the Township Hall for collecting Absentee Voter Ballots and Applications.

Please do NOT use this drop box for tax payments or other deliveries!!
The drop box for tax payments and other deliveries is still installed on the wall below the Bulletin Board.

The Drop Box is provided by the State of Michigan Bureau of Elections. No local taxpayer dollars were used for its purchase.

The Planning Commission Meeting Scheduled for 5/14/24 at 7:00pm has been moved to Wednesday 5/15/24 at 7:00pm.

New Members to the Commission are still going to be sworn in on Tuesday at 7:00pm

The Newfield Township Planning Commission welcomes all township residents to bring trash and refuse to the Township Hall on Saturday June 1, 2024 beginning at 8:00am and until 1:00pm (or the dumpsters are full, whichever comes first). We will be accepting scrap metal at this event. PLEASE do not begin dumping before our staff is on site. Be advised that Township property is under video surveillance 24/7. Theft of scrap metal or other items left will be prosecuted.

The following is NOT accepted at the Clean-Up Day:

  1. Tires
  2. Hazardous Materials
    1. Such as paint, thinners, flammable liquids, acids, etc.
  3. Lawn clippings, leaves, tree materials, etc.
  4. Recyclable materials (the Township Recycle Center will be open to accept these items!)

This is open to all township residents. Proof of residency may be required. Acceptable forms of ID include a tax bill and your state-issued photo ID, if your address differs.

The Newfield Township Board will hold a special meeting Thursday 5/2/2024 at 3:00pm for the purposes of appointing members to vacant positions on the Newfield Township Board and the Newfield Township Planning Commission. Interested parties are welcome to attend this public meeting and see local government in action.

The Newfield Township Recycle Center will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024.

The Center will be open for the duration of Township Clean Up Day, Saturday, June 1, 2024.

All other hours remain the same.

A friendly reminder that Styrofoam and garbage are not accepted at the Center.
