The Newfield Township Planning Commission welcomes all township residents to bring trash and refuse to the Township Hall on Saturday June 1, 2024 beginning at 8:00am and until 1:00pm (or the dumpsters are full, whichever comes first). We will be accepting scrap metal at this event. PLEASE do not begin dumping before our staff is on site. Be advised that Township property is under video surveillance 24/7. Theft of scrap metal or other items left will be prosecuted.

The following is NOT accepted at the Clean-Up Day:

  1. Tires
  2. Hazardous Materials
    1. Such as paint, thinners, flammable liquids, acids, etc.
  3. Lawn clippings, leaves, tree materials, etc.
  4. Recyclable materials (the Township Recycle Center will be open to accept these items!)

This is open to all township residents. Proof of residency may be required. Acceptable forms of ID include a tax bill and your state-issued photo ID, if your address differs.

The Newfield Township Board will hold a special meeting Thursday 5/2/2024 at 3:00pm for the purposes of appointing members to vacant positions on the Newfield Township Board and the Newfield Township Planning Commission. Interested parties are welcome to attend this public meeting and see local government in action.

The Newfield Township Recycle Center will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024.

The Center will be open for the duration of Township Clean Up Day, Saturday, June 1, 2024.

All other hours remain the same.

A friendly reminder that Styrofoam and garbage are not accepted at the Center.

Newfield Township has openings for the following Board Positions: Trustee and Treasurer. There is also an opening on the Planning Commission.

The Board positions would be to fill the remaining terms until the November election. The Planning Commission position will be until Jan. 2025.

All letters must be submitted by April 30,2024 at 4:00p.m. to the township hall. Interested parties may also drop their letters off in the drop box at the hall, or in person during normal business hours, typically Mondays from 9:00-4:00.

The Newfield Township Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024 has been cancelled due to insufficient business for the Commission to conduct.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2024 beginning at 7:00pm.

 

 

Early Voting Precinct Canvass for early voters from Newfield Township will be held 2/27 after 8:00pm at the Oceana County County Building located at 100 State Street, Hart, MI 49420.

Tuesday, February 27, 2024 is the date of the Presidential Primary Election. The Newfield Township Hall will be open for voting, but officials may not be available for conference or other functions.

The Treasurer will NOT be in the office on this day, but WILL be in the office as required by law on Thursday, February 29th for collection of property taxes before they are transmitted to the County Treasurer as delinquent.
